THANKS FOR VISITING

Agri Aware Patrons

At Agri Aware it is our mission to reverse the decline in agricultural literacy among non-farming communities.

We are Agri Aware

Agri Aware relies on the investment of Irish Agri-food companies to support our activities. By supporting Agri Aware, you are part of a community that actively combats the negative portrayal of agriculture by educating the public on the importance and value of the agri-food sector.

Through our innovative learning programmes, media engagement and events, Agri Aware reaches millions of people each year. With big plans for the years ahead, we hope you will get onboard and support us in rebalancing the narrative on agriculture.

Warm regards,

Marcus O’Halloran

Our Patrons

We appreciate our patrons who enable the work we do.

The Agri Aware patron network is made up of a diverse range of agribusiness and food businesses.

Agri Aware's Patron Support Package

Agri Aware is delighted to announce the launch of its patron support package, aimed at recognising the continued role patrons play in the success of the organisation’s mission of enhancing agricultural literacy. Approaching 30 years of existence in 2026, Agri Aware’s portfolio of work has grown extensively and now boasts the support of over 50 patrons, many of whom are linked directly to the agricultural sector in Ireland.

The launch of the patron support package took place at the FBD House in Bluebell, Co. Dublin. The launch saw Agri Aware Chairman Shay Galvin joined by FBD Trust Chairman Mr. Michael Berkery. FBD are one of five stakeholders that founded Agri Aware in 1996, alongside the Irish Farmers Association, the Irish Farmers Journal, Bord Bia and Ornua.

By supporting Agri Aware, patrons demonstrate a commitment to strong governance practices and meaningful industry impact. This in turn allows patrons of Agri Aware to align with key Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals, positioning each company as a leader in sustainability and social responsibility. This will be recognised through an exclusive patron badge that patrons of Agri Aware can display across the company.

Patron News

We’re thrilled to welcome DLF Ireland to the Agri  Aware patron community. As Ireland’s leading provider of premium grass and forage seed, DLF is helping farmers across the country to maximise grass growth, support biodiversity, and enhance environmental sustainability. The group’s cutting-edge lab-to-farm approach includes extensive R&D, from large-scale trial plots in Waterford to on farm partner programmes which ensures that seeds are tailored to real Irish farming needs.

By joining us, DLF brings a shared commitment to sustainability, education, and reconnecting people with where food begins, the land.

Speaking about becoming a patron of Agri Aware, Dr Thomas Maloney, Product and Technical Manager at DLF, said: “DLF is proud to become a patron of Agri Aware, an organisation doing vital work in showcasing the cultural, environmental, and economic value of Irish agriculture. It is especially important to share this message with those from non-farming backgrounds, so they can understand the work that goes into food production and feel reassured that they are consuming Irish products of the highest quality.

Impact of Investment

Educating schools and consumers nationwide.

The Agri Aware team stays busy year-round — from working with national and local media, to welcoming thousands of consumers onto farms, and educating schoolchildren across the country through our 10 educational programmes. There’s never a dull moment!

Open Farm

Open Farm is Agri Aware’s flagship event and plays a central role in our mission to enhance agricultural literacy across Ireland. It provides a unique opportunity for us to engage with consumers of all ages from every corner of the country, helping to bridge the gap between rural and urban communities. The event promotes greater awareness among the non-farming public of modern agriculture, animal welfare, food quality and safety, and the rural environment. It also highlights the crucial role that farming and the agri-food industry play in supporting the Irish economy.

Trade Events

The Agri Aware team is always open to exploring opportunities to engage with the public at events and shows. This could involve setting up an interactive stand to showcase our educational programmes, or delivering hands-on workshops and agricultural demonstrations such as sheep shearing, sowing and growing, and milking. In 2025, we’ll be taking part in several major events, including Bloom, Flavours of Fingal, the Tullamore Show, and the National Ploughing Championships.

Media Engagement

Our team is highly experienced in communicating the work we do and the impact of our programmes. Several team members have participated in external TV, radio, and online broadcasts, helping us to consistently expand our reach and engage with wider audiences.

Digital Campaigns

Agri Aware is committed to advocating for the Irish agri-food industry, and we regularly undertake large-scale campaigns to raise public awareness, support rural communities, and educate the non-farming population. One such initiative is our Sowing Wellbeing in Every Field campaign, launched in late 2024, which encourages farmers to prioritise and maintain their mental and physical wellbeing.

School Programmes

Thanks to the generous support of our patrons, the Agri Aware team delivers a range of educational programmes and initiatives for both primary and secondary schools — all aimed at raising awareness and deepening understanding and appreciation of the agri-food sector. So far in 2025, over 130,000 students have taken part in our programmes.

Collaboration

Derek O’Brien

Agri Aware is a fantastic organisation to work with.

BiOrbic has partnered with Agri Aware over a number of years to design and deliver the Environmental Innovators programme. This exciting initiative that invites Transition Year students to develop innovative solutions to key environmental and food systems challenges has been successful beyond expectation, largely because of the drive of the Agri Aware team. They have helped us connect with an audience at scale that we would not otherwise have been able to. Marcus and the team are hugely professional, insightful, innovative in their thinking and share our passion for focused collaboration to find solutions.

Frank Monahan

We are delighted to support Agri Aware in their important public awareness initiatives and to collaborate with them on complementary projects such as the Farm Walk & Talk at UCD Lyons Farm each year.

We are very fortunate in Ireland to have an independent body such as Agri Aware to increase awareness among students and the general public of the importance of Ireland’s world class Agri-Food industry and I would highly recommend becoming a patron member to support the great work undertaken by Marcus and all of the Agri Aware team.”
