Come Farm With Me’ is Agri Aware’s new webinar series that will see farmers join primary school children virtually nationwide in schools this academic year.

The third farmer showing us a day in their life is pig farmer Christopher Brady from Co. Cavan.

Christopher will take us around his pig farm, discussing each of the areas of the farm from farrowing right up to the finishing process. Christopher will speak about how he and his team look after all the pigs on his farm from their housing facilities, to diet and animal welfare standards they uphold and implement in order to run a proficient pig enterprise.

The first farmer to show us a day in their life was Broccoli producer from Co. Kildare, Paul Brophy on Friday November 8th.

Paul demonstrated how the broccoli you buy in the shop is produced from the ground up and joined us after the video live to answer any questions students had. 

The second webinar saw beef farmer Michael McGuigan from Co. Meath show us a day in his life.

Michael showed us around his farm, from his suckler cows, to weanlings, to carrying out some of his daily jobs and what measures he is implementing on his farm to become more environmentally sustainable.

This six-part series will run from autumn 2024 to spring 2025, with six webinars consisting of a pre-recorded ‘day in the life’ of each farmer followed by a live interaction between the farmer, Agri Aware education officers and primary school students registered to the series.  

This year’s farmers for the ‘Come Farm With Me’ series include:

  • Agri Aware Chairman Shay Galvin a beef and tillage farm in Co. Limerick, 
  • Christopher Brady a pig farmer from Co.Cavan, 
  • Paul Brophy a broccoli producer from Co.Kildare
