Here at Agri Aware we have a small but multi-skilled team who work on a variety of projects across the organisation. We are all passionate supporters of Agriculture, Irish Food Producers, Education, and Animal Welfare.

Shay Galvin

Chairman

Shay was elected as Agri Aware Chairman in April 2024. Shay, a qualified civil engineer, operates a beef and tillage enterprise alongside his family in Co. Limerick.

Previous to his election as Chairman of Agri Aware, Shay served as the Limerick County Chair of the Irish Farmers’ Association for four years.

Shay is passionate about enhancing agricultural literacy and supporting the good work Irish farmers do in growing and feeding a growing global population.

Marcus O’Halloran

Executive Director

Marcus took over at Agri Aware in February 2020. It was a challenging start as just weeks later the global coronavirus pandemic took hold. However, he has managed to build and grow the organisation and the team through this testing time.

Marcus is an Agricultural Science graduate from UCD and before arriving at Agri Aware he spent four years as a regional executive with the Irish Farmers Association.

Home is in South Tipperary where Marcus’s family have a mixed dairy and beef farm.

Roisin Byrne

Agricultural Science Co-Ordinator

Róisín is a graduate of the UCC School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences. She has worked in the agricultural science sector since then.

Roisin joined the Agri Aware team in November 2022 previously having worked in science research and communication roles and has published in peer-reviewed journals.

Róisín’s focus is ensuring the effective transfer of knowledge to all age groups and is committed to engaging young people in agricultural science and food production.

Michael Geary

Education & Communications Officer

Michael joined Agri Aware in April 2023 having previously been a technical journalist at an agri news publisher since graduating from UCD in 2019.

Michael holds a degree in Animal Science from UCD and recently completed his Professional Master of Education as an Agriculture Science teacher.

In his spare time, Michael helps out on a relative’s beef farm and has a keen interest in sport.

Robert Corroon

Education & Events Officer

Robert began with Agri Aware in March 2023, having previously spent some time with an agri news publisher on its marketing team.

Robert is a SETU graduate with a degree in Land Management and is now continuing his studies part-time with an MSc in Organic & Biological Agriculture.

When at home in Meath, Robert is re-building his own family farm.

Eimear Mannion

Communications Officer

Eimear joined the Agri Aware team in May 2024. She is a recent graduate from UCD with a degree in Animal Science.

Not coming from an agricultural background, Eimear’s goal is to effectively communicate the role of agriculture to the non-farming community.

In her spare time, Eimear has a keen interest in hiking and the outdoors and volunteers as a scout leader for her local group.

Fiona Treacy

Education and Accounts Officer

Fiona joined the Agri Aware team in July 2024. A graduate of Agricultural Science-Animal Science from UCD, graduating in 2022.

During her studies Fiona worked on dairy, beef and sheep farms as part of her placement which is where she discovered a passion for Agriculture.

After graduating the Kildare native worked in the UCD veterinary lab studying Bovine foot bathing practices working alongside colleges in both the Netherlands and the UK and has also worked as a veterinary assistant for a number of years in a small animal practice.

In her spare time, Fiona enjoys competing in entrepreneur programmes and running.

Devin Finneran

Events and Communications Officer

With over a decade of experience in events and project management, Devin has led large-scale productions and campaigns for clients across Europe and North America.  

Her work has involved managing scenery builds, shaping audience experiences, and delivering media campaigns and activations across a wide range of events, from science fairs and incentive trips to tech conferences and the Dublin Horse Show. 

While not from a traditional farming background, growing up in the countryside fostered her grá for animals, food systems, and the land. 

After returning to Ireland in 2025, she came full circle back to the agri-food sector, combining her professional experience with her academic background in Animal Science – Equine from UCD. 

Paul Nangle

Agricultural Science Co-Ordinator

Paul is a dairy and beef farmer from County Westmeath and holds a Level 8 Degree in Agricultural Science, along with a Level 9 Degree in Agricultural Extension and Innovation from University College Dublin. Building on this educational background, Paul has worked extensively within the agricultural sector and has developed a strong passion for agricultural education. 

Paul is committed to creating a positive, engaging, and hands-on learning environment, ensuring students gain practical experience alongside theoretical knowledge. He is dedicated to supporting students in developing the confidence, skills, and industry awareness needed for a successful career in agriculture. 

Outside of work, Paul has a keen interest in sport and is an active member of his local hurling club, where he both plays and assists with underage training.  

Eddie Holton

Agricultural Science Co-Ordinator

From a calf-to-beef farm in North Kildare, Eddie has a lifelong passion for agriculture and education. After completing a Level 8 degree in Agri-Business and Rural Enterprise in Galway, followed by a Professional Master of Education (Level 9) in Maynooth, Eddie went on to spend 10 years teaching at secondary school level. 

With a strong belief in practical, hands-on learning, Eddie is passionate about bringing theory to life and creating educational experiences that are memorable, engaging, and enjoyable. Whether speaking to students, farmers, or wider audiences, he brings energy, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for agriculture to every setting. 

Outside of work, Eddie is a dedicated GAA coach with experience coaching at both club and county level. 

Ciara Dillon

Education and Farm Experience Officer 

Ciara joined the Agri Aware team in March 2026, having recently graduated from UCD with a BSc in Food Science. Through a variety of educational roles, she developed a passion for teaching young people about where their food comes from.

Raised on a dairy farm in Co. Meath, Ciara is passionate about inspiring the next generation of farmers by fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of our animals, land, and food systems.

In her spare time, Ciara enjoys yoga, running, and spending time outdoors.
