Incredible Edibles School of the Week | Scoil Mhuire na nGrast, Co. Cork

Congratulations to our Incredible Edibles School of the week, Jessica O Donovan’s Second Class, Scoil Mhuire na nGrast in Co. Cork.

As part of the fifth and final Incredible Edibles Task, Ms O’Donovan’s Second Class have been planting seeds and watching them grow! They are kept busy watering them and watching their progress.

The children really enjoyed watching our Meet the Farmer Video with McCormack Family Farms.

Ms O Donovan told Agri Aware all about the class’s progress on the project.

“Second class in Scoil Mhuire na nGrást, Belgooly are really enjoying their ‘Incredible Edibles’ project. We learned about processed and unprocessed foods and examined our lunch boxes.

“The class all checked where our food comes from by reading food labels. We planted lots our seeds and enjoyed watering them and watching them grow.

“Last week, we joined in the meet the farmer zoom and liked hearing about all the different salad leaves that are grown on the McCormack family farm.”

It is Healthy Eating Week this week and Agri Aware visited Scoil Realta na Mara in Dundalk where we had a smoothie making demonstration with Deirdre Doyle from Cool Food School.

The kids had a great time. They enjoyed making and eating some healthy and delicious smoothies. The aim, just like Incredible Edibles, is to get children to increase how much fruit and vegetables they eat daily.

Huge thanks to all the sponsors for their support, especially Dole Ireland who provided fruit and vegetables on the day. The kids a little goodie bag to bring home.

Well done all! Obair Iontach!
