Agri Aware to connect with consumers and emphasise crucial role of agriculture at this year’s Cork Summer Show

Agri Aware is delighted to announce that it will be exhibiting at this this year’s Cork Summer Show for the first time, taking place on Saturday and Sunday, June 20th and 21st.

The agri-food educational body will we be bringing its renown Farmyard that is on show at Bloom in the Phoenix Park annually to Cork as well as hosting a marquee for its ongoing Food For Thought campaign.

Taking place at the Cork Showgrounds in Curraheen, Agri Aware aims to educate visitors to the show on Irish agriculture and food production firstly via demonstrations and displays at the Agri Aware Farmyard. Here, visitors to the show will be offered a flavour of the work that goes into producing top-quality sustainable food and caring for livestock and the environment on Irish farms.

Secondly, the Agri Aware Food for Thought marquee will provide visitors with an opportunity to meet and hear from those working in Ireland’s agri-food sector who play a crucial role in all facets of the industry. Patrons of the agri-food educational body will provide insight, analysis and experience of the work that goes into producing, processing, promoting and enhancing the sector while cooking demonstrations in between panels, will offer a taste of the top-quality food Irish farmers and producers provide year-round.

Speaking about attending this year’s Cork Summer Show was Agri Aware Chair Shay Galvin who said: “Agri Aware is delighted to be attending the Cork Summer Show this June 20th and 21st. The opportunity to engage with consumers on Irish agriculture and food and bridge that gap between farmers, producers and the general public is extremely important. The Agri Aware Farmyard and Food for Thought marquee will allow us to emphasise the critical role of agriculture in our daily lives.”

Also, commenting in the lead up to the show was Gerard Murphy, President of the Munster Agricultural Society, who said: “As we look ahead to this year’s Cork Summer Show, a huge amount of work has gone into improving the overall visitor experience – particularly when it comes to getting people to and from the event. With enhanced transport options, additional parking, and direct bus access to the Showgrounds, we’re making it easier than ever for people to plan their day. Alongside that, this year’s show promises a fantastic line-up celebrating the very best of farming, food and family entertainment, and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back as well as many new additions such as Agri Aware to the Showgrounds on the 20th and 21st June.”
