PRIMARY SCHOOL
Safe Farm Futures
This programme aims to educate primary school goers on the safety practices being implemented on farms, as well as raising awareness of their importance.
Introduction
This programme helps students understand the importance of safety on farms and in rural areas by raising awareness of everyday risks and encouraging safe, sustainable practices for all.
These free, curriculum-aligned resources are designed to teach farm safety in an engaging and age-appropriate way.
We offer two levels of coursework so hat both junior and senior primary students can participate. Each topic comes with teacher-friendly resources, including a presentation of content as well as activity sheets, making it easy to bring farm safety into the classroom.
It is structured into four chapters:
- Farming Basics – learning about the farming enterprises in Ireland
- Part 1: Staying Safe in the Countryside – understanding and respecting the rural environment
- Part 2: Staying Safe Around Animals – learning how to behave safely around animals
- Part 3: Staying Safe Around Machinery – identifying mechanical hazards and how to avoid them
Registered schools will gain access to the resources in October, 2025.
All those who complete a project submission will receive a certificate of completion for their school or class. The learning materials provided will help you on your farm safety journey.
We have received project submissions in the form of poems, dramas, songs and presentations in the past, but feel free to get creative and think outside of the programme. Submissions will only be accepted as a single PDF document via the link below. More information is available in the coursework presentations.
Deadline for submission: 2nd May, 2026
