Excitement builds as the Agri Aware ‘Big Red Shed’ returns while the Farmyard grows

Agri Aware in conjunction with Bord Bia, are set to host the Bloom Farmyard, located in the conservation area at this year’s Bloom Festival in the Phoenix Park Co. Dublin.

Bloom is taking place from Thursday, June 1 to Monday, June 5 and you can find us at Stand 27.

In a slight change to last year, Agri Aware has brought back the renowned ‘Big Red Shed’ that will act as the centrepiece to an action-packed Farmyard.

On Thursday 1 and Friday 2, over 1,100 primary school students from 48 different schools across the country – that are taking part in the Incredible Edibles programme – are set to attend. They will enjoy a tour of the farmyard, which features beef cattle, a dairy cow, and sheep.

Beef and sheep farms will also be virtual attractions, with interactive QR codes on the day. There will also be a sustainability display that will consist of hedgerows, wildflowers and multispecies plants, highlighting biodiversity on Irish farms.

Both the schools and public will get to meet and chat to the Agri Aware team, learn about food production, and will even get to see sheep shearing and milking demonstrations throughout each of the days. There will be some spinning, weaving and craft demos as well as plenty of fun, food and animal related games.

Agri Aware will also feature in the Eat Well stage and Kid Zone where they will take part in activities based on healthy eating and even get to go home with a plant of their own.
