National Potato Day 2017

To celebrate National Potato Day on Friday, October 6th, Agri Aware invited students from Arles National School Co. Laois to Family Farm at Dublin Zoo to educate them about potatoes including the importance of potatoes to our economy, culture, and wellbeing.

Johnny Gleeson, our Education and Development Officer gave a detailed insight into potatoes, including their qualities, the different varieties, how they are produced along with their scientific significance which included a fun experiment that involved using a potato as a battery to light up a bulb. Johnny also treated the class to a guided tour around Family Farm.
The students had a great day and learned all about the importance of potatoes and agriculture in Ireland.
