Agri Aware welcomes The Irish Field as its first equine patron
Agri Aware, the Irish independent agri-food educational body, is delighted to announce the addition of The Irish Field as its first equine patron, since its establishment.
The Irish Field joins Agri Aware’s existing seventy plus patrons, who all share the same goal of educating the public on the importance of farming and the Irish agri-food industry.
The equine industry is worth an estimated €1.8 billion to the Irish economy annually with Ireland being regarded as one of the best countries in the world for producing top class racehorses and sport horses.
The Irish Field was established in 1870, and is Ireland’s only newspaper dedicated to racing and equestrian sports. The inclusion of The Irish Field to Agri Aware’s patron base is particularly pertinent at this time, as the new DRAFT Agricultural Science specification for Leaving Certificate students encompasses equine for the first time and Agri Aware looks forward to engaging urban and rural students and the general public in the importance of the equine industry.
Commenting on the expansion of Agri Aware’s patron base, Chairman, Richard Moeran, said, “We are delighted to have The Irish Field, Europe’s leading bloodstock, racing and sport horse publication, on board as our new patron. The equine inclusion in the newly drafted Agricultural Science specification demonstrates the importance of equine science to our economy through the bloodstock and horse industry. Agri Aware is looking forward to highlighting the role of this key industry in the future, through our many initiatives.”
Agri Aware’s Chief Executive, Dr. Vanessa Woods, welcomed The Irish Field as a new patron of Agri Aware, and said, “Having The Irish Field on board as a patron is an important step for Agri Aware, as it represents new relations with the Irish equine industry. I look forward to working with The Irish Field in educating members of the general public and students from towns, cities and the countryside on the importance of the Irish equine industry.”
Editorial Manager at The Irish Field, Mr. Mark Costello added, “As Ireland’s leading equestrian publication, The Irish Field is excited to become a patron of Agri Aware. We look forward to working with Agri Aware to promote the equine sector to a wider audience”
